The Japanese Lovers
The free ATM that shows up
as a 1.50 on the bank statement,
The teenager whispering: his new used
car is the key to the world's vaginas
The pizza guy robbed and knocking
on your door for 20 more bucks.
The Tokyo two in a love hotel, away from
robot eyes, who try to catch a bit of breath
The winter-bought house wrapped in
clematis that leafs out as poison ivy.
The public pretences of he and her
that dissolve once doors are closed
The acting class you auditioned for!--
the one where you learned you can't act.
Forget them all and let's all dance
our kabuki dance, fake-out dance, the one
We'll never resolve, never escape --
little rhythm calling you're-so-sweet.
